KATHMANDU: Argentina beat Brazil 1-0 in the crucial final encounter on Sunday.

Argentina clinched the 2021 Copa America title in a tight final at the Maracana stadium in Brazil.

The only goal came in the 22nd minute when Argentina’s Angel Di Maria received a long ball on the right flank as he chipped Ederson to find the net.

Richarlison had earlier scored in the second half for Brazil but it was ruled out due to offside.

Argentina won their first continental title since 1993.

With this win, Argentina has equaled Uruguay as the joint-most titleholder at 15 titles each.

Meanwhile, this is Messi’s first win with his national side.
