All-party meeting called by Speaker underway; PM Oli skips

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli has abstained from the all-party meeting convened by Speaker Agni Sapkota on Friday.

UML disgruntled leader Madhav Kumar Nepal and UML senior leader Jhala Nath Khanal are, however, attending the meeting at the Lhotse Hall of Federal Parliament building in New Baneshwor.

Meanwhile, Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Janata Samajwadi Party Chairmen Upendra Yadav, and Dr. Baburam Bhattarai have also attended the meeting.

Speaker Sapkota has called the all-party meeting to discuss the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) and find a solution to the current imbroglio.

A secretary member of the Prime Minister had on Friday morning confirmed that PM Oli would not participate in the meeting, saying that this time is not suitable for the meeting.

Sapkota had invited Prime Minister Oli to the meeting.

Speaker Sapkota has intensified meetings with legal and constitutional experts following the dissolution of the HoR for the second time.

Earlier, he had held meetings with former Speakers, legal and constitutional experts.
