KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has issued an interim order to the government to ease the import of oxygen, and manage well-equipped hospitals for treatment of coronavirus patients.
A single bench of Justice Bam Kumar Shrestha gave the order Tuesday.
As per the interim order, the government is to relax regulation to facilitate import of medicine, oxygen and other medical supplies necessary in treatment of COVID-19-infected. It also asks the government to expand the capacity of hospitals and hire necessary work force to address the high flow of infected patients.
Hearing on a writ filed by Advocate Shailendra Kumar Ambedkar, the SC also ordered the formation of a working committee, by including stakeholders concerned, for management of hospitals, oxygen, medical supplies and necessary human resource, citing all of them directly concerned public health and citizen’s right to life.
