Mahato hints JSP may join Oli-led govt

KATHMANDU: Janata Samajwadi Party leader Rajendra Mahato has hinted at the possibility of his party joining the Prime Minister KP Oli-led government.

JSP leader Mahato said that PM Oli could be supported if he addressed his party’s demands.

Mahato said talks were underway with PM Oli about fulfilling his party’s demands adding that it is likely that JSP may share power with the Oli-led government.

He, however, said that as the party has not yet made any official stance on the balance of power, it is not possible to predict with whom it will support.

He also dismissed rumors that his party would split.

Mahato’s statement comes at a time when the three parties — Nepali Congress, Maoist Center and the JSP — were trying to form an alliance against Prime Minister Oli.
