YANGON: Security forces in Myanmar killed seven people as they opened fire on anti-junta protests in Myanmar Thursday, local media said.

Rights group Amnesty International (AI) has accused the Myanmar military of adopting battle tactics against demonstrators, Reuters said.

Reports said six people were killed in the Myaing when security forces fired on a protest.

Another was killed in the North Dagon district of Yangon, Reuters said quoting local media.

The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners advocacy group said more than 60 protesters have been killed so far and about 2,000 people detained by security forces since the February 1 coup against Aung San Suu Kyi’s elected government, according to Reuters.
