KATHMANDU: Devotees on Thursday thronged Shiva temples including Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu to worship Lord Shiva across the country on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri.

Thousands of devotees are queuing up to catch a glimpse of Lord Shiva and pay homage on the premises of Pashupatinath Temple.

The Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT), estimates over 8,00,000 are expected to visit Pashupatinath Temple today.

A large number of devotees, including sages from India, have flocked to Pashupatinath premises to observe the festival.

It is also believed that Lord Shiva was born on this day. Devotees also keep a vigil on this day by burning bonfires to ward off cold for Lord Shiva.

Meanwhile, an arrangement has been made for the devotees to enter the Temple from three routes.

The PADT has said it has made special arrangement for facilitating the devotees.

All four gates of the temple would be opened since 4:00 am on Thursday.
