KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that he was compelled to go abroad for his first kidney transplant due to lack of specialist services in the country.
Speaking at a program on the occasion of Kidney Day in Kathmandu on Thursday, Prime Minister Oli said that he had to go abroad for the first time due to lack of services here.
He said that transplantation and treatment services are now available in the country and preparations are being made to provide specialist services to kidney patients.
PM Oli also advised people to take nutritious foods and adopt healthy lifestyle to keep their kidneys healthy.
Prime Minister Oli has had a kidney transplant for the second time also.
The doctor suggests that regular kidney tests be done only by checking the amount of creatinine in the urine and checking it from time to time. It costs from Rs 100 to Rs 150 in a government hospital.
