PMO directs NEA to ensure regular power supply



KATHMANDU: The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM) has urged the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) to organize the supply of power in the country while keeping the consumers informed with the right and timely notice.

Considering the increasing complaints of power cuts as of late, the OPMCM has directed the NEA to adopt all possible measures to address the just grievances of the consumers.

The directive was issued at a discussion held between the OPMCM and the NEA authorities here today.

The Prime Minister’s development management expert Gajendra Thapaliya, OPMCM secretary Toya Narayan Gyawali, Secretary at the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Dinesh Kumar Ghimire and NEA Executive Director Hitendra Dev Shakya and NEA Kathmandu valley distribution center heads took part in the discussion.

On the occasion, the NEA Authorities expressed the commitment to take every possible step to address the problem and to provide easy and uninterrupted service to the consumers.

Systemic reforms, installation of a smart meter, and the underground distribution system will improve the situation in the long-run, they said.
