Elephant menace in Jhapa

JHAPA: The wild elephants have panicked the people at Simle of Kamal Rural Municipality-5 in Jhapa district.

The elephants coming from nearby jungle have been terrorizing locals for some days, said Ward Chair Dambar Bahadur Niraula, adding that the herd of elephants was destroying crops and damaging houses too.

The settlements at Tulke, Kampa and Simle are much panicked after the elephants damaged a house belonging to Krishna Prasad Rai from Simle on Wednesday. The food grains were destroyed by the wild animals.

The people here have demanded the local administration to help chase away the pachyderm.
