Govt to provide Rs 10,000 in grant to about 500,000 poor and needy families



KATHMANDU: The government has announced to provide Rs 10,000 in cash grants to about 500,000 poor and needy families in the informal and unorganized sectors who lost jobs and livelihoods due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Finance Minister Janardan Sharma made the announcement while introducing a bill to replace the budget ordinance in the parliament on Friday.

He said, “Arrangement has been made to provide a one-time cash grant of Rs 10,000 per family to about 500,000 poor and needy families in the informal and unorganized sector who have lost their jobs and income due to COVID-19.”
