NC district presidents of Poudel faction in favor of special general convention

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) district presidents have stressed on holding a special general convention if the scheduled convention cannot be held on time.

After holding back to back meetings for two days beginning Monday, NC district presidents close to senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel concluded that the legitimacy of the party was at stake and to save the party’s legal status the party needed to hold a special general convention, said NC Nuwakot President Jagdishwor Narsingh KC.

He opined that the existing disputes regarding active membership should be resolved as per party’s rules and statute. He added if the scheduled 14th general convention cannot be held on time, then the party should hold a special general convention through the representatives elected from the 13th general convention.

On the active membership dispute, KC said the district presidents believed the issue would be resolved by providing active membership by following procedures in the disputed areas as previously decided by the Central Working Committee (CWC), and for now holding a special general convention with representatives of the 13th general convention would help the party.

He also said the NC-led government should work in a manner so that the people could feel changes.

Lastly, KC informed that the results of the meeting of the chairpersons would be made public on Wednesday.
