KATHMANDU: As the Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday could not hear a writ that sought to stay a special session of Lumbini Provincial Assembly (PA) summoned for Wednesday, the PA is set to convene to discuss a no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Shankar Pokhrel.
As many as 34 lawmakers of the opposition comprising Nepali Congress (NC), CPN-Maoist Center, Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) and Rastriya Janamorcha submitted a memo to Governor Amik Sherchan urging him to convene a special session of the PA to discuss a no-confidence motion against CM Pokhrel.
The governor complied with the opposition’s request and summoned a special session of Lumbini PA for Wednesday.
Karnali UML lawmaker Lila Giri filed a writ at the Supreme Court seeking to halt the special session of PA called by the governor following the summon.
The writ assigned to the bench of Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut could not be heard on Tuesday, informed Supreme Court Spokesperson Baburam Dahal.
