SC hearing writs against Citizenship Ordinance today



KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) is hearing the writ petition filed against the Nepal Citizenship (First Amendment), Ordinance, 2078 BS today.

The hearing which was scheduled for Sunday had been postponed for Thursday due to lack of time.

Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana, Justices Deepak Kumar Karki and Meera Khadka, Hari Krishna Karki and Ishwori Prasad Khatiwada are hearing the case.

President Bidhya Bhandari had issued the Ordinance on May 23. A total of six writ petitions have against the Ordinance in the SC.

Senior advocate incuding Borna Bahadur Karki, Advocates Bishnu Kumari Giri, Ram Bahadur Shahi, Kul Bahadur Bogati and Maulik Jarokilo Party have filed the writ petitions.
