Ridiculous for a PM to seek vote of confidence from HoR which he dissolved earlier: Upendra Yadav

KATHMANDU: Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Chairman Upendra Yadav took a swipe at Prime Minister KP Oli for seeking a vote of confidence from the very parliament which he dissolved last year.

He said the parliament which the PM did not have faith in in the first place, how can he seek trust from the same place.

Speaking at the special session of the House of Representatives (HoR), Yadav said the PM disregarded devolution of power in the federal setup.

He accused that the inclusive movement had been weakest in the past three years of the incumbent government.

Yadav also reminded the PM about the Madhes and its issues, stating that the PM has been lobbying to garner the support of Madhesi lawmakers of late.

He also asked the government why it did not table the Citizenship Bill. “You must have not tabled it considering it a Madhesi issue and not a national issue.”

Yadav hit at the government, saying “In the last bill session of parliament, the government did not table a single bill. The government instead ruled by ordinances by dissolving the HoR during its bill session.”

He also said the inauguration of various projects done by the PM was not real development.

Yadav said that the word ‘setting’ is very popular these days and the government is running on such settings. The government is not working as per rules and procedures, he added.

He said the parliamentary system is of no need if everything was to run through ordinances.

Yadav pointed that during PM’s tenure most cases were filed against Madeshi people.

Considering everything, Yadav said the PM did not deserve the confidence of the parliament.
