KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress Okhaldhunga district former president Prithvi Bahadur Karki died today due to Covid-19.

The 78-year-old politician was availing treatment against Covid-19 at HAMS Hospital in Kathmandu for some time.
Karki had forayed into politics and was involved with the Nepali Congress (NC) since 2018 BS.

He was also sentenced to jail during the people’s movement and had significantly contributed to the cause of democracy in the country.

Meanwhile, NC Okhaldhunga chapter has expressed sorrow over the demise of Karki. In a press statement released here today, NC Okhaldhunga president Pradeep Kumar Sunuwar said that Karki’s demise had caused an irreparable loss to the NC.

The NC will lower its party flag at half-mast for seven days and there will be no formal program in the district for the next five days due to the mourning of Karki.
