20 individuals recommended for constitutional bodies (with list)



KATHMANDU:  The Constitutional Council (CC) has recommended 20 individuals for the appointments in the vacant posts of the constitutional bodies.

A meeting of the CC held on Sunday recommended 20 individuals for the appointment in 11 constitutional bodies, informed Udaya Timalsina, the personal aide of National Assembly Chairman Ganesh Timalsina.  A recommendation has been made to all the five posts including that of chairman in the Public Service Commission.

According to the decision, Madhav Prasad Regmi has been recommended as the chairman of the Commission while Madhav Belbase (Kapilvastu), Dil Bahadur Rai (Ilam), Dinesh Silwal (Lalitpur)and Manju Kumar (Mahottari) have been recommended as members.

Similarly, Hari Paudel from Baglung and Dr Sumitra Amatya from Lalitpur have been recommended as the members of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority.

Similarly, Sagun Shamsher JBR has been recommended as the commissioner of the Election Commission. Bipin Raj Niraula (Panchthar) and Sudha Kumari Jha (Dhanusha) have been recommended as the members of the Natural Resources and Fiscal Commission.

Likewise, Jaya Ghimire from Dhanusha, Sabitri Sharma Tiwari from Parbat have been recommended as the members to the two vacant posts of the Women Commission while Sundar Purkuti  has recommended as a member of the Dalit Commission.

Ram Krishna Timalsina (Kaski) has been recommended as the chairman of the National Inclusive Commission and Pushpa Raj Timalsina (Parbat) and Man Prasad Khatri (Bajhang) have been recommended as members.

Similarly, Surya Bahadur Gurung has been recommended as the member of the Indigenous Nationalities Commission while Adha Kumari has been appointed as the member to the vacant post of the Madhesi Commission. Uma Shankar Chaudhari (Nawalparasi) has been recommended as the member of Tharu Commission while Mohammed Ramshul Hak has been recommended as the member of the Muslim Commission.

The list of recommended names will be sent to the parliamentary hearing committee (PHC) of the Federal Parliament.

President Bidya Bhandari will appoint them if they were not rejected by the PHC.

Prime Minister KP Oli, Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana and NA Chairman Ganesh Timalsina made the recommendation to the posts.  Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota abstained from the meeting.
