Blood Transfusion Centre in Nawalpur reeling under shortage for blood

NAWALPUR: The Blood Transfusion Centre at Kawasoti in Nawalpur district has been facing shortage of blood for some time now.

The Centre run by Nepal Red Cross Society Kawasoti’s chapter has been reeling under the shortage for the blood since the Centre could not launch blood donation drive for so long due to spread of second wave of COVID-19, informed chapter’s chairperson Bed Prasad Neupane.

The stock of blood in the Centre has also been finished and the stock was yet to be replenished, said Neupane adding that there was a huge demand for blood.

Earlier, the Centre used to provide its surplus blood to Nawalpur Hospital and Chitwan Hospital in Bharatpur.

Since mass blood donation drive could not be launched, the Centre has been collecting blood from individual donors whenever there is a dire need.

The Centre makes sure it adheres to health safety protocol against COVID-1 while collecting blood from the individuals, informed Neupane.
