National rhino count rises to 752



KATHMANDU: The number of rhinos in the country has increased to 752.

According to Rhino Census 2021, a total of 752 rhinos are present in four national parks and bordering areas. Of the total, 136 are calf, 96 are teenage rhinos and 520 are adults.

In the census carried out between April 11 and May 2, 2015, there were a total of 645 rhinos in Nepal.

The highest number of the wild animal is found in Chitwan National Park (CNP) and its surrounding areas. As many as 614 rhinos were counted in CNP.

Likewise, Bardiya National Park is home to 38 rhinos, Shuklaphanta National Park has 17 and Parsa National Park has 3 rhinos.
