Maoist Center replaces Province 2 PP representatives

KATHMANDU: The CPN (Maoist Center) has picked new representatives for its Province 2 parliamentary party (PP).

A Maoist Center meeting held in Province 2 party office in Janakpurdham Saturday picked Bharat Sah as PP leader, Jagat Yadav as deputy PP leader, Dilip Sah as chief whip and Ruby Karn as whip for Province 2.

Ram Chandra Mandal was Maoist Center PP leader in Province 2 before the merger of CPN-UML and Maoist Center in 2018.

After Prime Minister KP Oli dissolved the House of Representatives on December 20 last year, Mandal defected to the UML (Oli faction). Three other Maoist leaders – Kundan Sah, Jwala Sah and Mohammad Samir Ansari – also followed Mandal to join the UML.

According to the newly-picked Chief Whip Sah, the Maoist Center’s meeting held last month in central party office at Paris Danda, Koteshwor, had also decided to seek clarification from the defecting leaders in Province 2.

The party is preparing to initiate action against them.

There are 11 provincial lawmakers of Maoist Center in Province 2.

The fifth session of Province 2 Assembly has been called at 1 pm on April 12.
