Wildfire spreads to human settlement, guts five houses

JAJARKOT: Fire houses were gutted after a forest fire spread to Nalgad municipality-8, Mangsiri.  The fire which was occurring in a local forest spread to a human settlement and destroyed five houses, said Manod Sharma, a teacher at Himalaya Basic School.

According to Sharma, houses of Amar Bahadur Singh, Khadka Singh, Bedraj Singh, Chandra Bahadur Singh and Yagya Bahadur Singh were burnt down in the fire. Clothes, utensils, foodstuffs and some domestic animals were also gutted in the fire.

The fire raged out of control since the village is located at a high altitude where the wind blows extremely, said District Police Office, Jajarkot.
