CPN (Maoist-Center) SC meeting gets underway



KATHMANDU: The Standing Committee meeting of the CPN (Maoist-Center) has got underway at the party office in Peris Danda.

A SC meeting held on Tuesday had decided to continue to hold the meeting on Wednesday as well to discuss the current political situation that arose following the Supreme Court’s verdict to scrap its merger with the CPN (UML).

Likewise, the party has decided to hold a meeting of the central committee on Saturday, and an assembly of party cadres on Sunday, according to the party’s Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha.

The CPN (Maoist Center) has also decided to expedite talks with the main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) and Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) on government formation, among other issues.

Meanwhile, party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ on Tuesday held talks with NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba at the latter’s residence in Budhanilkantha.

The 20-minute talks basically focused on current political developments and the parties’ future course of action.

Prachanda had rushed to meet Deuba soon after the Standing Committee meeting.
