Hearing on HoR dissolution resumes

KATHMANDU: Debate on the writ petitions filed in the Supreme Court against the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) has resumed from today.

The debate, which was adjourned for a day on Tuesday to mourn the death of former Judge Indra Raj Pandey, is resuming from today.

The Supreme Court has been debating 13 cases against the dissolution of the parliament since January 17.

Currently, the PM’s private legal practitioners are debating in defense of the government’s decision.

Earlier, more than 70 people had argued on behalf of the writ petitioner.

President Bidhya Devi Bhandari had dissolved the HoR on December 20 on the recommendation of Prime Minister KP Oli.

Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana has constituted a five-member constitutional bench under his leadership to hear the writ petition.
