Government to grant public holiday on Maghi Day



KATHMANDU: The government has decided to grant public leave on January 14 on the occasion of Maghe Sankranti (Maghi).

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Sunday decided to grant public holiday on the occasion of Maghe Sankranti and Maghi on Magh 1, i.e. January 14.

The decision was made on the recommendation of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The Tharu community celebrates Maghi festival on Magh 1 while others celebrate it as Maghe Sankranti.
