KATHMANDU: The CPN-Maoist Center has increased the number of office bearers in provincial committees.

A meeting of the party’s Standing Committee (SC) held Thursday increased the number of office bearers in provinces from seven to nine. With this, the Maoist Center’s provincial committees will comprise chairperson, three vice chairpersons, a secretary, three joint secretaries and a treasurer — a total of nine office bearers.

The SC of the Maoist Center also expanded the size of the provincial committees.

Spokesperson Krishna Bahadur Mahara said Province 1 would now have 269-member committee, Province 2 would have 271-member committee, Bagmati Province 275-member committee, 229 members in Gandaki Province committee, 253 members in Lumbini Province committee, 221 in Karnali committee and 223 in Sudurpaschim committee.

A women’s department led by leader Pampha Bhusal was also formed in the SC meeting today. Likewise, another committee comprising leaders Dev Gurung, Giriraj Mani Pokhrel and Shri Ram Dhakal was formed to facilitate dialogue with aspiring party members.
