Home Minister Khand bats for Deuba’s win from coming general convention

DHANUSHA: Home Minister and Nepali Congress leader Balkrishna Khand has said Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba should be ensured victory as the President of Nepali Congress from its forthcoming 14th general convention.

Home Minister Khand also stressed the need that both the Prime Minister and party president should be same person so that it would be easy to run the government and party effectively.

It helps avoid internal haggling, he added. “Problem of citizenship in Madhes is the problem of country. The government would address this issue by bringing the Act rather than working as per ordinance,” he said, arguing that various bills including that of citizenship were stalled in the parliament as the major opposition CPN UML obstructed the parliament business.

The Home Minister however vowed that the government would solve the problem by endorsing the bill on citizenship.

He also urged the UML to stop obstruction in parliament. Moreover, he said government was committed to ensuring security to people.

On a different note, he mentioned that judiciary, executive and parliament are independent institutions. It is imperative that problem in judiciary ends soon, he underlined.
