Economists’ expertise should be utilized for nation building: Finance Minister Sharma



KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Janardan Sharma has said that a mechanism is needed to link expertise of economists with the Finance Ministry for development of the country.

At a program organized by Nepal Economic Association Monday to present honorary membership of the Association to the Finance Minister, Minister Sharma stressed the need of developing a mechanism of linking experts with country’s welfare.

Saying that the Finance Ministry or government alone is not enough to boost the country’s economy, he pointed out the need of a mechanism to linking knowledge and experience of the concerned experts.

Similarly, Finance Secretary Madhu Kumar Marasini shared that knowledge and experience of the experts would be incorporated in course of formulating any policy and plan.

Stating that they have been supporting the Finance Ministry in course of formulating country’s economic policy, Association Chairperson Prof Bishwombhar Pyakurel expressed commitment for continuous support in days ahead.

Economists Dr. Bhawani Dhungana, Dr. Shivaraj Adhikari and Gopal Tiwari, among others, suggested the government to forward small programs that directly benefits the people, adding the incumbent government has not enough time to carry out many works.
