Gandaki Province speaker reaches SC defending his dismissal of lawmaker Thapa

Hearing scheduled for Thursday



KATHMANDU: Gandaki Province Speaker Netra Raj Adhikari has filed a petition seeking revocation of the Supreme Court’s interim order reinstating Rastriya Janamorcha Gandaki Province assembly lawmaker Krishna Thapa.

Speaker Adhikari reached at the Supreme Court on Tuesday afternoon, and filed a petition seeking annulment of the interim order saying that the decision of the province assembly to dismiss lawmaker Thapa was legal.

Separate petitions have been filed against the interim order on behalf of the Provincial Assembly Secretariat and the Rastriya Janamorcha Nepal.

SC source informed that the hearing on the petition will take place on Thursday.

Earlier, a single bench of Justice Kumar Chudal had ordered Thapa’s reinstatement to the post of lawmaker claiming the dismissal would result in a massive loss of wealth to both the lawmaker Thapa and the nation.

With Thapa’s reinstatement, the possibility of an opposition coalition government in Gandaki has been ruled out. Janamorcha Thapa lawmaker had defied abiding the party directives to vote sign against Gandaki Province Chief Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung.
