Can’t give a vote of confidence: Mahanta tells PM Oli

KATHMANDU: The Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) has made its stance clear that it would not give a vote of confidence to Prime Minister KP Oli.

JSP leaders Mahanta Thakur and Rajendra Mahato on Sunday met Prime Minister Oli at the latter’s official residence in Baluwatar and said that they would not vote for him.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Oli had urged them to support him by giving a vote of confidence on Monday.

The JSP leaders told PM Oli that they would not be able to support him since the government has not yet met their demands.

The two leaders met PM Oli after holding talks with Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba at Budhanilakantha early Sunday morning.

According to the source, JSP leader Thakur had said they would rather remain neutral.

Prime Minister KP Oli is taking a vote of confidence in the House of Representatives on Monday.

As Prime Minister Oli prepares to take a vote of confidence, efforts are underway to form an alternative government.
