Prachanda proposes Deuba, Baburam to form a three-party govt

KATHMANDU: Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has floated the idea of forming a three-party coalition government.

Chairman Prachanda has proposed the Nepali Congress and Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) form a three-party coalition government.

Prachanda on Tuesday held discussions with Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Chairman of the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Dr Babu Ram Bhattarai on the possibility of forming a coalition government.

In response, NC President Deuba said that he would take the decision after consulting with the party leaders.

Chairman Prachanda held talks with NC Deuba at the latter’s residence in Budhanilkantha soon after the party’s Standing Committee meeting.

Party sources said the 20-minute talks between Prachanda and Deuba basically focused on current political developments and the parties’ future course of action.

Likewise, Chairman Prachanda also met Dr Bhattarai with the same proposal of forming a coalition government sans the CPN-UML.

Prachanda’s meeting with Deuba comes on the heels of the party’s Standing Committee decision to expedite talks with the main opposition party NC and JSP on government formation.
