Tiwari, Kirati told to submit details within 15 days to get new party name, symbol

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has asked the CPN-UML led by Sandhya Tiwari and the CPN-Maoist Center led by Gopal Kirati to submit details to get a new party name and symbol within 15 days.

After the Supreme Court (SC) ruled that the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) should be disbanded and the CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center) should be revived, the EC decided to inform Tiwari and Kirati to submit details to the EC for registering a new party name and symbol.

The two parties were registered with the EC after the unification of the erstwhile CPN-UML and the CPN-Maoist Center.

The Supreme Court on Sunday ruled in favor of Rishi Ram Kattel in the NCP name dispute.
