Singer-turned-lawmaker Komal Oli files defamation case against Raghuji Pant

KATHMANDU: Popular singer and National Assembly member Komal Oli has filed a case of defamation against the disbanded Communist Party of Nepal leader Raghuji Pant.

She filed a defamation case at the Kathmandu District Court saying that Pant’s remarks have humiliated not only her but all women leaders.

Earlier, she had lashed out at leader Pant for his comment that some people have cashed high posts cashing in on their body parts.

Speaking at a program organized by the then NCP Prachanda-Nepal faction, Pant had said that some people have achieved high posts by using wrong means, and some have cashed high posts for their glamour irrespective of whether they contributed to the party or not.

Vexed by the slanderous comment, Oli has criticized Pant for his ‘gender-biased and defaming’ remarks and has claimed that Pant must have got some deficiency to make such remarks.
