KATHMANDU: The faction led by Nepali Congress (NC) senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel has failed to decide the sole candidate for the post of party President.

A “closed-door” meeting of the leaders — Ram Chandra Poudel, Prakash Man Singh, Shashank Koirala and Shekhar Koirala — in Chaksibari on Wednesday failed to decide on a common candidate.

The leaders have held several rounds of discussions to pick a common candidate.

As the leaders failed to field a common candidate, a leader informed that a decision would be taken at a meeting of the party’s central members on Thursday.

He said, “So far they have not been able to field a common candidate. Now we will have a meeting of the central members tomorrow morning to forge consensus on a common candidate.”
