KATHMANDU: Preparations are underway in a way to resume the operation of schools at local levels in Kathmandu and other districts from September 17 being based on the risk analysis of COVID-19.

A meeting called by Kathmandu Chief District Officer on Tuesday decided to urge the presentation of a uniformed action plan to open the schools in coordination with the District Crisis Management Centre by assessing the health risks.

Local teachers and employees should at least have been vaccinated for the opening of schools.

Assistant Chief District Officer Kalpana Ghimire shared that the local levels have been asked to present an action plan by making necessary consultations about the modality as a decision was already made under the smart lockdown that various sectors including schools can be opened.

However, there is no compulsory for the vulnerable schools to mandatorily resume their operations, she clarified.

The guardians have also requested not to hasten to resume the operation of schools when the risk is still on.

The National Federation of Guardians urged the authorities not to make any hurry to run the classes as the infection risk is prevailing.
