KATHMANDU: Human Rights Organization of Nepal (HURON) has appealed to the government of Pakistan to protect and respect the rights of minority Hindu community there and initiate a fair probe into August 5, 2021, vandalism of a Hindu temple.
The organization drew attention of Pakistan’s Ambassador to Nepal Syed Haider Shah through a statement published Friday to the vengeful vandalism at Ganesh temple in Bhong town of Rahim Yar Khan district in Pakistan although the minority Hindu community had apologized for a minor Hindu boy’s improper conduct at a Muslim seminary prior to the act.
The organization expressed its concern over human rights violation of a minority community in the Muslim country, and pointed out that the matter was eyesore to human rights community all over the world and not just inside Pakistan.
The government of Pakistan has been urged to restore law and order to protect the minority Hindu community and ensure punishment to the culprits involved in ransacking the Hindu temple as an act of revenge.
