PA meeting postponed without entering business schedule

KATHMANDU: The Karnali Province Assembly has been postponed without entering into the business schedule on Thursday.

The meeting was scheduled to hold discussion on the annual budget estimates of the fiscal year 2021/22. The Province Assembly meeting has not proceeded for long due to obstruction from the opposition CPN (UML), which has obstructed the discussions over the budget unveiled by the Karnali Province Government for the upcoming fiscal year.

On Thursday, immediately after the beginning of the budget, UML province assembly lawmaker Dala Rawal said that his party was obliged to obstruct the meeting to protest the unconstitutional moves carried out by the Province Assembly government. “In Karnali, the minority has been ruling over the majority. This is ridiculous on morale, democratic and legal grounds,” he said.

The UML’s lawmakers have been protesting in the Karnali Province stating that UML was put in both the ruling and opposition benches. Currently, three lawmakers from the UML are serving as ministers in Karnali Province.
