JSP Chair Thakur seeks one week to furnish documents demanded by EC



KATHMANDU: Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Chairman Mahantha Thakur has asked the Election Commission (EC) one more week to submit the signature of the decision of the Executive Committee.

JSP Chairman Upendra Yadav had expelled another Chairman Mahanta Thakur, senior leaders Rajendra Mahato, Laxman Lal Karna and Sarvendranath Shukla from the party on June 1 and requested the EC to update the party’s registration book. The same day, Chairman Thakur also expelled Yadav and urged the EC to do the same on basis of his application.

A day later on June 2, the EC had sought more documents from both the factions.

Yadav faction was asked to submit details of the disciplinary action in the format prescribed in Schedule 18  of the Political Party Act, and Thakur faction was asked to submit a copy of the details and signatures of Executive Committee members who had endorsed disciplinary action against Yadav.

EC Spokesperson Raj Kumar Shrestha said Yadav faction had sent the details in the form as per Schedule 18 but no details were received from Thakur faction and they have sought one more week to oblige by EC demand.
