Principles and priorities of appropriation bill presented in Province 1

KATHMANDU: The Province-1 Government is making preparations for introducing budget for the fiscal year 2021/22, with a focus to prevent the coronavirus pandemic and mitigate subsequent loss.

Making public the principles, objectives and priorities of the Appropriation Bill 2021/22 at Tuesday’s meeting of the Province Assembly (PA), Minster of Economic Affairs and Planning Tanka Angbuhang (Limbu) said the budget has laid emphasis on coronavirus control, treatment, relief, unemployment reduction, good governance and prosperity-oriented programs.

He further stressed that the budget would come up with policy measures to effectively implement fiscal federalism, maintain fiscal discipline and propel sustainable development. “In addition, the budget would incentivize private sector as an important pillar of the economy”.

The upcoming budget would consolidate the Inland Revenue of the province, adopt the policy of Revenue Advisory Committee and focus towards attaining health and education sector development targets, he informed.

Taking part in the special time of Tuesday’s meeting, CPN (Maoist Center) parliamentary party (PP) leader Indra Bahadur Angbo said there should be no intervention in the naming of the process.

PA member Bal Bahadur Masunghang expressed concern over the naming of Taplejung’s Suketar airport after late Tourism Minister Rabindra Adhikari. Locals have expressed ire for changing the name of the airport with a history of 47 years, he added.

Next meeting of the PA is to take place at 11.30 am Wednesday.
