Hearing on HoR dissolution case on Wedneday



KATHMANDU: Hearing on the case related to a dissolution of the House of Representatives would be conducted at the constitutional bench of the Supreme Court on Wednesday.

The hearing was put off on Monday after Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana fell ill. There is a constitutional provision that a hearing would be conducted at the constitutional bench under the chair of the Chief Justice.

Though hearing on the case was started by forming a constitutional bench comprising Chief Justice Rana and senior-most justices Deepak Kumar Karki, Meera Khadka, Ishwor Prasad Khatiwada, and Dr Ananda Mohan Bhattarai on Sunday, it was postponed for Monday following discussion on the case.

Spokesperson of the SC, Devendra Dhakal, shared that the hearing has been determined for Wednesday.

The hearing has not been initiated so far being focused on the issue due to the dispute over the formation of the bench.

A total of 30 writ petitions have been filed at SC over the dispute. The writ petitions have demanded to declare the HoR dissolution and mid-term election unconstitutional and unlawful.
