Deuba leaves NC PP meeting in the middle to chalk new strategy

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has walked out of a parliamentary party meeting of his party to join a secret meeting with the CPN-Maoist Center and Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) to chalk new strategy against Prime Minister KP Oli.

According to sources, NC President Deuba left the parliamentary party (PP) meeting called to discuss the party’s strategy for the parliament’s special session called for May 10. PM Oli has called a special session of the parliament to seek vote of confidence.

The opposition parties have been alerted at PM Oli’s attempt to woo CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal. Keeping in mind the distancing factions of the ruling CPN-UML, the opposition parties are optimistic that PM Oli is set to lose trust vote.

Keeping eyes at the unpredictable moves PM Oli is known to take for to retain his hold on power, the opposition parties fear that PM Oli might take any action like dissolving the parliament again if he failed to get vote of confidence on May 10.

It is said that the opposition parties are also mulling over filing a no-confidence motion against PM Oli lest dissolving the parliament would be difficult legally.
