Govt irresponsibility aggravated the pandemic crisis: Narayan Kaji Shrestha

KATHMANDU: CPN-Maoist Center leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha has said the government’s irresponsible attitude aggravated the pandemic situation in the country.

Commenting on the messy situation of COVID vaccine procurement, infrastructure building to face the wide-spreading pandemic and government’s false claims that the pandemic is still within control, former Minister Shrestha said, on Saturday, that the current situation seems to be going beyond control due to government irresponsibility.

He has appealed the public to abide by health safety protocols for the government has not bothered to improve health services yet.

“Sadly, Nepal has become one of the world’s leading countries in terms of coronavirus infection cases and mortality,” Maoist leader Shrestha said, adding, “The irresponsible attitude of the government and lack of timely preventive measures, on part of the government, has led the country to a serious turn.”

He has urged the government to come out with relief packages for daily wage earners and the poor who have been pushed to the verge of starvation due to the ongoing lockdown.
