Cases of eye infection on rise in Makawanpur

MAKWANPUR: More and more people complaining of infection and allergy in their eyes have been visiting the eye hospitals in Makawanpur district lately due to air pollution.

The wildfire spread across the forests at Hetauda since two weeks caused pollution in the air leading to the increasing cases of eye infection among the locals here.

The Community Eye Hospital at Hetauda has seen a sudden rise in the number of patients seeking medical intervention to their eye infection and allergy, shared the hospital administrator Sudhir Shrestha.

Shrestha shared that over 350 eye patients turn up at the hospital on a daily basis for treatment. A majority of the people visiting the hospital here complain of eye itching and burning, informed Shrestha.

Around 50 percent of the total eye patients visiting hospitals here have been beneficiaries of the government’s scheme of health insurance, said the Hospital.

Besides eye patients, the health facilities here have seen a surge in the number of patients suffering from cold and ear, tongue, and nose related ailments.
