Nepal Bar seeks UML Chairman Oli’s support in their agitation against CJ Rana

KATHMANDU: Nepal Bar and Supreme Bar officials, who have been protesting demanding the resignation of Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana have sought the support of CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli.

Advocates led by Nepal Bar President Chandeshwar Shrestha and Supreme Bar President Purnaman Shakya reached Balkot, Chairman Oli’s residence on Tuesday to seek his support.

Chairman of the Supreme Court Shakya said that they urged Oli, like other leaders, to move ahead with the constitutional process (impeachment) for the exit of Rana, saying that the Chief Justice was an obstacle to the end of distortion, inconsistency, corruption and middlemen in the judiciary.

In response, Oli said he would discuss the issue at the party and come to a conclusion.

Earlier, Bar officials had met UML parliamentary party deputy leader Subash Chandra Nemwang and drew his attention.
