Kidney Transplant Centre transplants 800 kidneys in 9 yrs



BHAKTAPUR: The Sahid Dharmabhakta National Transplant Centre in Bhaktapur has successfully transplanted kidney on 800 people until Monday.

The institution also known as Human Organ Transplant Centre achieved this success during its nine years of operation, Executive Director at Centre Dr Pukar Chandra Shrestha.

It is said that a team of senior kidney and liver transplant surgeon Dr Shrestha, senior nephrologist Dr Kalpana Shrestha, chief consultant urologist and transplant surgeon Prof Dr Rakesh Kumar Barma, anesthesiologist Dr Arati Rai and nursing director Kopila Dahal of the Centre carried out such number of transplant in a successful manner.

According to Executive Director Shrestha, the transplant was 100 per cent successful on part of organ donor while 98 per cent in kidney transplant. The Centre was established in 2012.
