26 families of freed haliyas receive houses, lands

DADELDHURA: A total of 26 families of freed haliyas have been handed over houses and land on the occasion of the 13th Haliya Liberation Day in the district.

Of the total houses, six are newly constructed and 18 renovated. Similarly, two freed haliyas households got the land for the construction of house.

The handover was announced by Amargadhi Municipality Mayor Bisheshwor Prasad Ojha at a program organized at Jaushina of Amargadhi Out of 2,551 households of freed haliyas, 2,267 households have been rehabilitated in Dadeldhura.

However, 200 have been missed in the rehabilitation package and 85 households deprived of second installment of the relief amount. Mayor Ojha claimed that statistics on 2,000 freed haliyas was missing in the district. The rehabilitation of the freed haliyas had begun since the fiscal year 2071/72.

The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation in the province had managed Rs 200,000 for purchasing land to a haliya family while Rs 125,000 for house renovation and Rs 325,000 for construction of house.
