Govt set to conduct National Census-2021 from Nov 11 to 25

KATHMANDU:  The government is set to hold the National Census-2021 from November 11 to November 25.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Monday approved the revised schedule of the Census-2021, said Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, the spokesperson of the government.

The Central Statistics Office had set the date for the national census and sent the schedule of the National Census 2021 to the Council of Ministers.

The Department had proposed a schedule to start various census works from September 5, and the major census work is scheduled from November 11 to 25.

According to the schedule, the supervisors will be recruited from September 5 to 11, the supervisors will be trained on September 12 and 13 and the supervisors will go door to door from September 15 to October 4.

After that, enumerators will be recruited and trained from October 30 to November 2. The basic calculation will be done after their training.

Earlier, the Department had prepared for the census from June 22. However, due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the date was postponed.

The census has been started in Nepal since 1968 BS. The census was postponed for the second time since then.

The regular census was supposed to be held in 2008 BS but it was conducted for 2009-2011 due to the 2007 BS revolution and subsequent political developments.
