KATHMANDU: A meeting of the task force formed to resolve the dispute of the CPN-UML has ended with a positive note, a task force member of the party Pradeep Gyawali said on Wednesday.

According to leader Gyawali, the many issues of the dispute are close to conclusion and are likely be resolved by Thursday.

Meanwhile, a member of the task force, Gokarna Bista, said an agreement has been reached to dissolve the CPN-UML’s previous committee.

Bista said that an agreement has also been reached to restore the party organization to its previous state and that there was a consensus on the management of the leaders who had joined the UML from the Maoist Center.

The task force formed some time ago to resolve the dispute in the CPN-UML was inactive after Chairman KP Oli faction expelled senior leaders including Madhav Kumar Nepal and Bhim Rawal. However, after Chairman Oli dissolved the controversial 10th General Convention Organizing Committee and restored the Central Committee, the task force has become active again.

The task force has five leaders from each Chairman Oli and senior leader Nepal faction. Subash Nembang, Bishnu Poudel, Shankar Pokhrel, Pradip Gyawali and Bishnu Rimal are the task force member from PM Oli faction whereas leaders Dr. Bhim Rawal, Surendra Pandey, Ghanshyam Bhusal, Gokarna Bista, Raghuji Pant, and Bhim Acharya are representing the disgruntled Khanal-Nepal faction.

The task force was formed after May 17 talks between Chairman Oli and senior leader Nepal.

They had met at Singha Durbar then.
