UML task force meeting taking place even today to thrash out intra-party feud

Likely to take decision on joint press note

KATHMANDU: The ruling CPN-UML is holding its task force meeting in a bid to resolve the long overdue intra-party dispute even today.

The task force meeting held Tuesday to resolve the dispute in the CPN-UML ended without any concrete agreement.

The meeting held at the Prime Minister’s and Council of Ministers’ Office in Singha Durbar Tuesday afternoon decided to continue discussions Wednesday.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, one of the task force members Bhim Rawal said members floated proposals to address contentious issues in the meeting Tuesday; however, no agreement could be reached. “We have decided to continue the talks in a bid to resolve outstanding issues,” said Rawal.

The members of the task force in the meeting yesterday had also discussed issuing a joint statement of party chair KP Oli and senior leader Madhav Nepal. Today’s meeting will take a concrete decision on it, said a leader.

The task force had been inactive after 23 lawmakers of the Madhav Kumar Nepal faction signed the petition to make opposition leader Sher Bahadur Deuba the Prime Minister, and was only revived Monday.
