NVA to start toll free hotline service for livestock farmers hit by pandemic



KATHMANDU: Nepal Veterinary Association (NVA) has started a hotline service to address the problems faced by livestock farmers during the Covid-19 pandemic and induced prohibitory orders.

The association said a 4-digit toll-free hotline will be launched from Tuesday for the convenience of farmers.

Farmers have to dial 1159 to avail the service.

Shital Kaji Shrestha, president of the association, said the hotline service aimed to connect experts with livestock farmers to provide continuous counseling to the emergency problems faced by farmers.

The service will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to receive emergency calls on problems related to animal health, diet, breeding, and other aspects.

The association also conducted telemedicine consultancy services from its provincial committees this year as well and the association made public the contact numbers of about 300 veterinarians from across the country for the telemedicine service.

According to the association, service on the hotline toll free number will be provided by veterinarians involved in veterinary treatment services in various fields.
