15 lawmakers test positive so far; reports of 600 personnel out

A total of 1,134 swabs were collected for parliament's May 10 session



KATHMANDU: As many as 15 members of the House of Representatives (HoR) have tested positive for coronavirus infection until Friday.

Likewise, 15 others, mostly employees working with the 15 lawmakers, have also been confirmed with the infection.

The Federal Parliament Secretariat has been conducting PCR tests of 1,134 people, including 195 HoR members, before the special session of parliament convened for May 10.

The parliament session is called as Prime Minister KP Oli deemed it necessary to obtain a vote of confidence from legislature.

Of the 1,134 tests, results of about 600 personnel have been made public so far in tests conducted on Wednesday and Thursday. Of the 600 results, reports of 15 MPs and 15 employees have come positive.

Dr Rojnath Pandey, spokesperson of the federal parliament, said reports of remaining persons were expected by late Friday.
