DCSCP carries out monitoring in seven hospitals in Kathmandu Valley

KATHMANDU: The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection (DCSCP) has carried out monitoring in hospitals in the Kathmandu Valley.

The Department with the help of the Department of Drug Administration, the District Administration Office, Kathmandu and Nepal Police monitored seven hospitals in the Valley to check whether treatment and other service fees are as fixed by the government, sad the Department’s spokesperson Shiva Raj Sedain.

The monitoring followed complaints registered against many hospitals in the Valley accusing them of charging patients high treatment fees during Covid-19 pandemic.

The seven hospital monitored by the Department included Civil Hospital in Minbhawan, Om Hospital and Medicare in Chabahil, Kathmandu Medical College in Sinamangal, HAMS Hospital in Sukedhara, Grande International Hospital in Tokha and Metro Hospital.

During the monitoring, the hospitals are found to have lacked Remdesivir and enough beds and not following the health protocols, said Sedain.

Likewise, there is disparity in treatment and other service fees among the hospitals, he said. Following the monitoring, the hospitals have been directed to submit required documents for investigations.
